He's Not Finished With You!

Hey peeps!

So I’m turning 30 this year and sometimes I think, like many people probably do, that I’d be further in my calling in life...that I’d be doing more for the kingdom of God by age 30. Some of my friends went to a Joyce Meyer conference in Hershey, PA this weekend. I so wanted to go but couldn’t make it, but Joyce Meyer didn’t start her ministry until her early 30's, and it didn’t have far reaching impact until much later. Now she’s in her 60’s and going strong! That is part of why she’s so inspiring to me. The truth is, God can use anyone at any age. Look at Sara, Abraham’s wife in the Bible...He didn’t begin to use her to be the mother of many generations and nations of Israelites until she was 90! Satan will lie to you (John 8:44), and remind you of all the mistakes you made and tell you you’re useless or you’re too old or you’re too ugly, etc...don’t let the devil lie to you! Stand on the promises God has made to you! The Bible says in Hebrews 11:6: “without faith it is impossible to please God, because anyone who comes to Him must believe that He exists and that He rewards those who earnestly seek Him.”

The Word also encourages us not to be “double minded”….in other words, not have some faith mixed with some doubt…to be steadfast in believing God’s Word!...

James 1:2-18 says:
"Consider it pure joy, my brothers, whenever you face trials of many kinds, because you know that the testing of your faith develops perseverance. Perseverance must finish its work so that you may be mature and complete, not lacking anything. If any of you lacks wisdom, he should ask God, who gives generously to all without finding fault, and it will be given to him. But when he asks, he must believe and not doubt, because he who doubts is like a wave of the sea, blown and tossed by the wind. That man should not think he will receive anything from the Lord; he is a double-minded man, unstable in all he does. The brother in humble circumstances ought to take pride in his high position. But the one who is rich should take pride in his low position, because he will pass away like a wild flower. For the sun rises with scorching heat and withers the plant; its blossom falls and its beauty is destroyed. In the same way, the rich man will fade away even while he goes about his business. Blessed is the man who perseveres under trial, because when he has stood the test, he will receive the crown of life that God has promised to those who love him. When tempted, no one should say, "God is tempting me." For God cannot be tempted by evil, nor does he tempt anyone; but each one is tempted when, by his own evil desire, he is dragged away and enticed. Then, after desire has conceived, it gives birth to sin; and sin, when it is full-grown, gives birth to death. Don't be deceived, my dear brothers. Every good and perfect gift is from above, coming down from the Father of the heavenly lights, who does not change like shifting shadows. He chose to give us birth through the word of truth, that we might be a kind of first fruits of all he created."

Often, when something I wanted for a long time (years and years) finally comes...my hubby seems a little sheepish that it took us so long to get it, but then I remind him, we can appreciate blessings (and victory) sooo much more when we've waited so long and worked so hard for it...we can really enjoy it!

Finally, I will leave you with some lyrics from my song “Nobody Told Me”…despite all of the trials and hardships in life, “You can be wise, you can survive, you can arise, be more than alive; You can fly above all the lies; keep going high into sky; you can believe in your dreams; you can achieve almost anything! (Philippians 4:13) So get on your knees so you can see what I’m telling you”….

Keep the faith!! Feel free to post a comment on my blog about how God is still using you! What are the promises He made to you in secret that you must shout to the world?! (Matthew 10:27)

Love,
Sarah
