I am a wife, a mother, a singer, a songwriter, and most of all, I am an adopted child of God who wants nothing less than to be His vessel to share His light and His hope, love, and joy!

Obedience is better than sacrifice

Dear friends and family,

1 Samuel 15:22-23 (NLT) says: “What is more pleasing to the LORD: your burnt offerings and sacrifices or your obedience to His voice? Listen! Obedience is better than sacrifice, and submission is better than offering the fat of rams. Rebellion is as sinful as witchcraft, and stubbornness as bad as worshiping idols.”

This reminds me of brothers Cain and Abel. Abel pleased the Lord with his obedience. Cain made a sacrifice of his choosing, but he didn’t please the Lord because he did not obey.

With true faith, we trust God, His word, His plan, and His direction…not our own. Often we make ourselves busy doing things that seem good, but those things are less than God’s best for us, and for the people around us, and many times those things are idols in our life.

A personal example is a while back I felt the Lord leading me to shut down my Facebook account. I couldn’t understand why because I reasoned that Facebook was one of my witnessing tools and enabled me to stay in touch with everyone. But the longer I stayed out of God’s will, the more miserable I felt. My spirit was grieving! As soon as I made the decision to follow God on this, it wasn’t nearly as hard as I thought it would be. I felt freer, and my mind was less cluttered. Suddenly, doors were opening for me to do other things. Sometimes we cannot move forward in the good things God has for us until we let go of the baggage He is leading us to let go of! Addiction is powerful, but our God is more powerful! We can do all things through Christ who strengthens us (Philippians 4:13).

On a musical note, I was able to record one of my songs yesterday, and I’m really excited to share it once it is completely finished in the studio. I will take any and all tips on getting this song out there, as at this point, I do not have a music manager!

Love and God bless!
